Friends of Petersfield Heath Chairman, Richard Warton, has written to the residents along Sussex Road asking them to keep a vigilant eye out for people who are damaging the wildlife of the Heath.

Following reports and photographic evidence of damage to ivy growing on the trees bounding the Heath along Sussex Road, the group is keen to find out who might be responsible and to persuade them of the huge benefits of ivy to all kinds of wildlife.

Contrary to popular belief, ivy does not kill trees. It provides fantastic habitat for many species of insects, as well as shelter and food for birds and bats.
